Raenali Program Manager
Florida native Melanie Edwards-Lieving, LVN has been living and serving patients in Texas for 17 years. In 1998, Melanie completed her studies and earned her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Alabama. Over the course of her career, Melanie has served patients in a variety of environments, including long-term care, Alzheimer’s care and hospice. Since transitioning to nephrology in 2004, Melanie has served in nursing, patient education and operations roles. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in social work at Texas A&M Commerce.
Melanie believes education is an important aspect in everyone’s life—from childhood through adulthood. As she explains, “Knowing more about our bodies and the choices available to us is something that everyone should have the opportunity to gain. Working with Raenali to help patients learn more satisfies that aspect for me.”
A foster parent for 12 years, Melanie and her spouse are raising eight children, six adopted from foster care. She also volunteers with post-adoption agencies to promote transitions in placements, as well as with LGBTQ groups to facilitate understanding and community awareness.
